The Role
Pathway Communications is a leading Managed IT Services, Cybersecurity, Cloud, and Data Centre provider based in Markham, Ontario. Since 1995, Pathway has delivered enterprise-grade technology solutions to organizations across Canada. The company owns and operates a Tier III Data Centre facility and provides colocation, cloud, managed infrastructure, and business continuity services.

The Data Centre Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of Pathway's data centre facilities, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of critical infrastructure and client environments. The incumbent will coordinate operational activities, support customer installations, maintain facility documentation, assist with compliance requirements, and act as a liaison between clients, vendors, facilities teams, and internal stakeholders. The role requires strong organizational skills, technical aptitude, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a mission-critical environment.
 
Responsibilities
Operations & Monitoring
  • Monitor data centre infrastructure and operational performance to ensure service availability and reliability.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and operational alerts, escalating issues as required.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting activities involving electrical, mechanical, environmental, and infrastructure systems.
  • Support backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining IT security, privacy, and risk management controls.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and infrastructure enhancements.
 
Client & Vendor Support
  • Assist clients with power, cooling, rack space, and environmental requirements for new and existing deployments.
  • Coordinate and support customer equipment installations, relocations, and decommissioning activities.
  • Perform Ethernet and fiber patching for customer and internal infrastructure.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between clients, vendors, facilities teams, and internal technical staff.
  • Ensure timely communication and resolution of operational requests.
Compliance & Security
  • Monitor physical security controls, access management processes, and site security procedures.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to ISO 27001, SOC 2, and other applicable frameworks.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual inventory audits.
  • Ensure adherence to company security, privacy, and governance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate access logs and compliance documentation.
Asset & Documentation Management
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory records and equipment tracking systems.
  • Coordinate asset tagging and lifecycle management activities.
  • Maintain site layouts, rack elevations, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and operational documentation.
  • Ensure all records remain current, accurate, and audit-ready.
Project Coordination
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating customer and infrastructure projects.
  • Organize project meetings, prepare agendas, distribute minutes, and track action items.
  • Support project reporting and documentation activities.
  • Coordinate communication across multiple departments to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Monitor deliverables and milestones to ensure deadlines are achieved.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in data centre operations, IT infrastructure support, facilities coordination, or related technical environments.
  • Experience working with mission-critical infrastructure and operational procedures.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Eligible to work full-time in Canada and located within reasonable commuting distance of Markham.
Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of:
  • Data centre infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, HVAC/CRAC systems, PDUs, and environmental monitoring.
  • Ethernet and fiber cabling practices.
  • IT infrastructure, servers, networking, storage, and backup systems.
  • ITIL processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Physical security systems, access management, and compliance requirements.
  • Microsoft Office applications and technical documentation tools.
Preferred
  • Experience working in a managed services, telecommunications, cloud, or colocation environment.
  • Exposure to data centre compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
  • Experience with project coordination and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and asset tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery practices.

Work Location
This is a full-time on-site position based in Markham, Ontario. The successful candidate will work from Pathway's Data Centre and office facilities. Occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency support may be required to support critical infrastructure activities, maintenance windows, or customer requirements.
